Privacy Policy
- We only collect what you choose to give us: a message through a form, or an email address to get DNS monitoring alerts.
- We use it only to reply to you or to send the alerts you asked for. We never sell it or use it for advertising.
- No analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies on this site.
- Email [email protected] to see, correct or delete anything we hold about you.
Who we are
Global SOC Pty Ltd is a small app design and security studio based in Glen Waverley, Melbourne, Victoria. In this policy, "we" and "us" means Global SOC Pty Ltd. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect and why
| Where | What | Why, and how long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Contact form (home page) | Your name, email, and anything you write in the message | To reply to your enquiry. Kept in our email for as long as needed to deal with it and our business records. |
| Home Security booking form | Your name, contact details, suburb, the service you chose, your message, and a summary of your self-check result if you completed it | To arrange the service you asked about. Kept as above. The check itself runs in your browser; only the summary is sent, and only if you submit the form. |
| DNS Audit | The domain name you enter, the technology detected from its public records (such as its email, website, CDN and hosting providers), your IP address, your approximate location (city, region, country) and network provider derived from it, and your browser type | To run the audit and to understand who uses the tool, including to follow up with organisations that may want our help. When you run an audit, our server checks the domain, returns the results to you, and records these details. We don't ask for your name or email to run an audit. We keep this record in Microsoft Azure (Australia) and in our email, and may also hold it in our security analytics system, for as long as needed for our business records. |
| Every page on globalsoc.com.au and its subdomains (for example print., dnsaudit., blog.) | The page you visit and the page that sent you, your IP address and the approximate location (city, region, country, coordinates) and network provider derived from it, your browser, operating system and device type, screen and window size, language, time zone, connection type, how long you stayed, how far you scrolled and how many times you clicked, and a random visitor ID stored in your browser so we can tell new visitors from returning ones | To understand how the site is used, measure interest in our services, and keep the site secure. Recorded automatically when a page loads and when you leave it. Kept in Microsoft Azure (Australia) for as long as needed for our business records. We don't use cookies or third-party advertising trackers. You can clear the visitor ID by clearing this site's data in your browser. |
| Print quote form (print.globalsoc.com.au) | Your name, email, phone if given, suburb, sizes and quantities, any files you attach, and a picture and summary of your design | To prepare your proof and quote. Kept in our email for as long as needed to deal with your order and our business records. |
| DNS Audit monitoring | Your email address, the domain you want monitored, and that domain's latest list of issues | To check the domain daily and email you when something changes. Deleted as soon as you unsubscribe (one click in every email). Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 7 days. |
We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health or financial details), and please don't include it in a message.
Information stored only in your browser
Some tools remember things on your own device using your browser's local storage, for example your recent DNS audits, your Home Security self-check answers, and the demo apps' settings. This stays on your device; we can't see it. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Services we use
We rely on these providers to run the site. They may process your information, including your IP address, on our behalf or as part of delivering the page to you:
- GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA) hosts the website.
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) provides our DNS and routes email to us.
- FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) receives contact and booking form submissions and forwards them to our inbox.
- Microsoft Azure: Azure Functions runs DNS Audit's server-side checks in the Australia East region; Azure Table Storage holds monitoring subscriptions, DNS Audit records and site visit records in Australia East; Azure Communication Services sends the monitoring emails, with its data location set to Australia.
- Google Fonts (Google LLC) serves the fonts on our pages.
- DNS Audit lookups: when you run an audit, your browser also queries the public services Google Public DNS (dns.google), Cloudflare DNS (cloudflare-dns.com), rdap.org and crt.sh directly.
- IP geolocation: to describe the approximate location and network provider of a visitor's IP address, our backend looks it up with the public services ipwho.is and ip-api.com.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, other countries, including the United States. We choose providers that have strong security practices.
Email we send
We only send DNS monitoring emails to people who asked for them and confirmed by clicking the link in our confirmation email. Every email identifies us and has a one-click unsubscribe link, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We don't add you to any other mailing list.
Security
All traffic to this site and our backend is encrypted with HTTPS. Monitoring data is stored in Microsoft Azure with access limited to us. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever have a data breach likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, contact us first at the address above and we'll try to fix it. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
We'll update this page if how we handle information changes, and change the date at the top.
